Rev. Dorothy Wellington
Pastor & Author
"At 18 I left a loving and protected home with all my needs met with a mother and father, three brothers and three sisters and married a 20-year old man from my hometown in Coolidge, Arizona who had just finished a year in the Viet Nam War. From 18 years of love and protection, I started a roller coaster of living with a husband who was mentally ill, then divorce, single parenting, and financial hardships one right after the other.
I have lived poor as a single mom, poor coming out of college, then became a part of the working poor to being poor during the first seven years of this ministry and community outreach to the poor and homeless in central Phoenix. But at the same time of living in poor circumstances, I knew the power of God was with me through it all in every day and year. I chose not to give up and to continue in the path of my life purpose that God had called me to be as His servant and caring for broken people.
Because of God and having a personal relationship with Him, I have the love and beauty of 3 children and 8 grandchildren. Over the years He has blessed me to effect the lives of thousands in teaching them how to live in-spirit with God in a physical Universe! My life is forever committed to Him. Today I know for certain everyone needs a personal relationship with God in order to have peace, love and joy through life's difficulties, hardships and sorrow.
In 2011, I received the honor of being a Community Luminary presented by the State of Black Arizona.
"I Care About People"
"I believe it is my life purpose and direction to reach hurting people and those who are poor and homeless. Even tho this is my commitment, I cannot do it alone. I need the help of our Super Stars of Inspiration, Staff & Guest Volunteers, Community Resource Partners and our Community Liaisons. "When you give to our programs and activities for our poor and homeless Super Stars, God promises to multiply it back to you." None of this ministry and community outreach would continue to be possible without financial offerings and donations from people like you. If you become a Super Star of Inspiration, you have been chosen by God and His blessings will come upon you in accordance to His Promise in Deuteronomy 15:10:
"Give generously to him (the poor) and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to."
How much should your donations be, that decision is between you and God, the message in your heart. "I am immensely grateful for all your giving." Click on left side "Super Stars of Inspiration."
More Background: In 1980 I began in ministry with teaching home Bible studies, then the outreach grew to build The Homemaker's Tea (ministry to women), later to pastor a young church in west Phoenix while attending Grand Canyon University, opened my first counseling agency in 1994. A writer for newspaper columns, speaker for numerous workshops, seminars and conferences. I had a counseling outreach to men at the Tents Jail in Phoenix called the Scholars of Wisdom. Published my first book in 2002, "Spiritual Healing Beyond Religion and "It's All About God," released in 2012. In October 2006 started the Once-A-Month Church ministering to the poor & homeless at the Burton Barr Library and later in the parks. What an awesome adventure! God's love is power, in Him I have the ability to accomplish everything He places in my heart.
